“Broadchurch” creator and former “Doctor Who” showrunner Chris Chibnall has set his first post-“Who” television project.

Netflix has announced that Chibnall is set to write a new adaptation of the 1929 Agatha Christie novel “The Seven Dials Mystery” for the streamer.

Chris Sweeney is set to direct this take which will be executive produced by Chibnall, Suzanne Mackie (“The Crown”) and Chris Sussman (“Good Omens”).

The story begins at a party at a countryside estate when one of the guests has died in their sleep, a guest the others played a prank on involving multiple alarm clocks.

One of the guests, Lady Eileen Brent (aka. Bundle) soon witnesses a murder and her investigations into the two deaths lead to a secret society of clock-masked individuals and the pending sale of a scientific formula that could change the face of power in post-WW1 Europe.

The property was previously adapted very faithfully to the screen back in 1981 as a 140-minute telemovie with Cheryl Campbell, James Warwick, John Gielgud and Harry Andrews. That version is available on BritBox.
