Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer romantic drama Bawaal was generating a lot of buzz on social media before the release. Yesterday, the film was finally released on Amazon Prime Video. So far, the Nitesh Tiwari directorial has met with mixed to positive critical reception. Recently, Varun who plays the role of Ajay Dixit, a Lucknow-based history teacher in the film, has thanked fans for loving the film so much.
Today, the actor took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt note to all the people who have been showering love on Bawaal. Attaching a picture of his character from the film, Varun wrote: “Ajju bhaiya ne Mahual bana diya.
Thank u for giving bawaal a place In Your heart. I have never received so many calls for any film of mine. The impact this film is having on people is incredible. It’s a conversation starter about the fake image industry and how today we are all in someway slaves to this ideology. Thank u for watching and enjoying Ajju and his family. You are #bawaal.”
Bawaal Has Received Its Share Of Criticism
The story of Bawaal has been called out by viewers who slammed the makers for drawing parallels between a troubled marriage to the killing of Jews by Adolf Hitler during world war II. In one scene, a character says that “every relationship goes through their Auschwitz.” One user took to social media and called the comparison tone-deaf and insensitive. Despite the criticism, the film has been loved by users as seen on various social media platforms.

Karan Johar Called It The ‘Most Unusual, Original Love Story’
Before the release, Karan Johar saw the film and absolutely loved it.
