In a video message posted on Instagram earlier today, Oscar winner Jamie Foxx has finally spoken publicly after being hospitalised back in April this year.

Speculation has been rife in the months since. Whilst it was known he was being treated for a “medical complication”, according to his daughter Corrine Foxx, the nature of his health issues was a mystery.

The new video doesn’t offer any further enlightenment on that front, Foxx saying that while he knew many wanted to hear updates about what happened, he didn’t want fans to see him: “with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through… I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back”.

The 55-year-old thesp added that his sister Dixon and his daughter Corrine had “really saved my life”, and he made the video for his fans to thank them for their messages of support along with thanking the medical services who helped them.

Foxx was initially in a hospital in Atlanta in April, where he had been filming Netflix’s “Back In Action” film alongside Cameron Diaz. Now, three months on, he says the “road to recovery had some potholes as well,” but “I’m coming back and I’m able to work.”

Foxx can be seen in the just-released film “They Cloned Tyrone” on Netflix, which has scored very highly on Rotten Tomatoes.
