Marvel, Sony Differ On “Spider-Man 4” Tone? SuperNayr

Sony Pictures

A new rumor that has taken the online sphere by storm this afternoon suggests Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are at a minor impasse over the tone of the next “Spider-Man” film.

DanielRPK (via Spider-Man News) reports that both Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and star Tom Holland allegedly want more of a grounded story for the next film after the multiverse shenanigans of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.

To that affect, the scooper indicates there have already been discussions about potentially bringing in Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin into the new film.

However, they also say that Sony Pictures itself wants to take the opposite approach and want to bring back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield again for a much bigger multiverse spectacle.

Going by the online sentiment, the support is overwhelmingly for the grounded approach it seems. At present there is no word as to when the next film will begin production.

At last report about a year ago, Marvel had a story for the film with writers having begun work on it but was soon put on hold due to the strikes. With those over, it’s likely development is back underway.

The talk comes ahead of the release of “Madame Web” in two weeks which has long been rumored to have some “Spider-Man” film ties.

It also comes as veteran British actor Tom Hollander (“Pirates of the Caribbean,” “The Night Manager”) revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers that he was accidentally sent Tom Holland’s “Avengers” bonus cheque by mistake – a cheque said to be an “astonishing amount” of money.
