Sanjay Gadhvi, the director of the blockbuster action films Dhoom and Dhoom 2, passed away on Sunday morning due to a heart attack. He was 56 years old. His sudden demise has left the film industry and his fans in shock and grief.
Among the celebrities who expressed their condolences and memories of working with Gadhvi were Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan, who played the lead roles in Dhoom and Dhoom 2 respectively.

Abhishek Bachchan shares unseen pictures of Sanjay Gadhvi with an emotional note
Abhishek Bachchan, who portrayed the cop ACP Jai Dixit in both the films, took to Twitter to share an emotional note for Gadhvi. He wrote, “I took this photo of Sanjay whilst we were filming the climax of Dhoom 2 in South Africa. We made 2 films together – Dhoom and Dhoom 2. Sanju, when I spoke to you last week and we were reminiscing about our shoots and memories I would never have imagined even in my craziest dreams that I would have to write a post like this.
I’m shocked beyond belief. 💔
You had faith in me, even when I didn’t. You gave me my first ever hit!!! I can never ever forget that or be able express what it meant to me. I will cherish your friendship always. Rest in peace my brother.”
Hrithik Roshan pays his heartfelt tribute on passing away of his director
Hrithik Roshan, who played the suave and smart thief Mr A in Dhoom 2, also tweeted his heartfelt tribute to Gadhvi. He wrote, “Deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Sanjay Gadhvi. Forever grateful for the moments we shared. He was instrumental in bringing out the Aryan in me. Couldn’t have done it without him. Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed. 💔”
Gadhvi made his directorial debut with Tere Liye in 2001, followed by Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai in 2002. He rose to fame with Dhoom in 2004, which starred Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Uday Chopra, Esha Deol and Rimi Sen. The film was a huge success and spawned a film franchise. Gadhvi also directed its superhit sequel Dhoom 2 in 2006, which starred Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and Uday Chopra. The film was praised for its action sequences, music and performances. Gadhvi’s last film was an action short Operation Parindey in 2020, which starred Amit Sadh.
