Oscar-Winning Da’Vine Joy Randolph Joins High-Profile A24 Project

Da’Vine Joy Randolph is coming back to the screen in a new A24 production titled, Eternity, which features a high-profile cast and story line.

An upcoming, ambitious A24 romantic comedy movie to be directed by David Freyne has just cast the Oscar-winner for Best Supporting Actress from The Holdovers, Da’Vine Joy Randolph in a central role. Eternity certainly has an intriguing premise as IMDB reveals the story line will center on three people trying to choose who they will spend “eternity” with after death. These characters will have a limited time to make that aforementioned choice. Sounds really different, doesn’t it?

Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen and Callum Turner are the stars who Randolph will be appearing with in Eternity. While Elizabeth Olsen is the obvious big-name standout of that cast thanks to her work in the last Doctor Strange movie from 2022, Teller has quietly been making a name for himself as a big-time character actor, appearing in well-received films like Top Gun: Maverick. Before that, Teller played lead roles in independent films like The Spectacular Now and Whiplash. Callum Turner had a recent juicy role in director George Clooney’s modest box-office hit, The Boys in the Boat. Olsen and Teller will be executive producers on Eternity which goes into production this summer.

Randolph hit it big when she appeared in Eddie Murphy’s hit for Netflix, Dolemite Is My Name and was soon cast in Alexander Payne’s comedy/drama, The Holdovers, in which she starred with the legendary character actor turned movie star, Paul Giamatti. Randolph has expanded her talents to television as well with a juicy role in “Only Murders in the Building.” She could score a Best Guest Comedy Actress Emmy nod for the part she plays on that hit Hulu Show.

Last year, Randolph defied the odds besting Penelope Cruz (Ferrari) and other supporting actresses such as Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple) and another living legend, Jodie Foster (Nyad) for almost all the preliminary trophies which led to her Oscar win. Randolph took home upwards of 70 critics awards and honors for her heartfelt and funny turn in Payne’s holiday-time set gem, The Holdovers.

A24 is one of the biggest studios of late which distributes films which almost always have great appeal for movie buffs. Lately, A24 has released one of its biggest successes to date, Civil War, and I Saw the TV Glow which was a more modest hit but a hit nonetheless.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph has the charisma and tremendous acting skills to shine in almost any role she ends up taking on and will prove a formidable presence in the upcoming picture, Eternity.
