EastEnders star Melissa Suffield embraces her curves in floral lingerie as she hits back at pressure on new mothers to ‘bounce back’ after giving birth

The former EastEnders star Melissa Suffield hit back at ‘bounce back’ culture this week as she embraced her ‘real body’ in fun Instagram post on Friday.

The 30-year-old took to the social media platform as she danced around confidently in her skimpy underwear as she displayed her unfiltered curves.

The actress posed in a gorgeous rose-print matching lingerie set as she captioned the clip: ‘Want to know what makes me mad? Bounce back culture.’

The star went on to discuss the pressure put on mothers after they give birth to snap back into their pre-baby body, despite the fact their time both mentally and physically is completely consumed with looking after a human being.

She wrote: ‘New mums already have a LOT of pressure. They’re keeping this new ACTUAL person alive, learning how to do it, trying to heal from birth, being bombarded with ads for *the* dream product that they probably don’t need, worried about why their baby isn’t sleeping through yet because they saw a £500 course that promised them the solution- the LAST thing they need to be worrying about is bouncing back to their pre baby body.’

Melissa gave back to her son River in March 2020 with her husband, cruise director Robert Brendan.

The former soap star, who played Lucy Beale on the square, is a huge advocate for body positivity and embracing your post-partum body.

She continued: ‘It’s simple really. You don’t need to ‘bounce back’. There is absolutely no time limit on postpartum. You’re GOLDEN mama ✨

‘Did you feel the pressure to snap back after giving birth? How did you make it through?’

Fans were quick to relate with the star as they united with Melissa about the pressure of motherhood.

One wrote: ‘Hell yeah! Who even came up with ‘bounce back’? We’re Mamas and are stronger than before we had our children. ❤️’

Another commented: ‘I was ‘lucky’ if that’s the right word, that when I was pregnant the extra weight was all baby. Fast forward 8 years, post hysterectomy, possibly perimenopausal, and I’m starting to accept the body I have now. It looks different but that’s ok. I try to stay away from typical ‘instagram’ feeds and follow people like yourself, who resemble who I am now, not who I was 20 years ago.’

A third shared her advice: ‘Don’t feel pressure to bounce back. Just enjoy your baby ❤️ The time that they are tiny babies is so brief. It’s precious, so don’t waste it worrying that you have put on a few pounds…..Love from a mum who’s son is now almost 30 and 6’4 with a beard’.

Melissa, who’s Instagram account name is the.confidentmama, aims to help her followers feel comfortable in their own skin.

Earlier this year she wowed in a gorgeous red swimsuit as she reminded her followers that they are all ‘worthy of being seen.’

Melissa filmed herself wearing the bold number from Curvy Kate in range of styles including halterneck and bandeau.

She wrote: ‘I know we’re conditioned to believe that red is bold, power, attention- and sure, it can be- and sometimes that scares us off when we’re not feeling those things.

‘But actually, sometimes it’s that kick of colour that GIVES us that confidence- it does for me anyway. Sometimes refusing to hide is exactly what we need to do to believe that we’re worthy of being seen.’
